Silver Oak — Heritage Muscle for Modern Broilers

The Silver Oak is a large-framed, meat-focused line developed at Oak Meadows Hatchery to serve as the male parent in our Dirt Parrot broiler cross. Built from a blend of genetics, including heritage barred breeds and commercial meat birds, this line is designed for size, vigor, and reliable growth.

Males are bold and broad with classic silver barring, while females are productive layers with good maternal instincts and moderate body size. Selected over multiple generations for performance on pasture, Silver Oak birds bring muscle, fertility, and excellent hybrid potential to the table.

When crossed with our Black Oak line, Silver Oak roosters produce a barred broiler that resembles the Silver Oak male in feather pattern and growth. Reversing the cross — Black Oak rooster over Silver Oak hen — produces a sex-linked chick, with black pullets and silver-barred cockerels that grow evenly and efficiently.
